Explanation of notes indicated above on the programme.

Evening competitions on your sheet are especially designed for fishing around the quay and to the north, as far as Fishbourne Mill, early in the tides when mullet and bass run. Although you can fish around the quay which includes up to the mill. the 28th June is specifically for the mill. You can park in Mill Lane down from the Bull pub in Fishbourne. You need wellies, walk down Mill Lane past the duck pond, turn left through the iron Beaumont Kissing Gate then walk parallel to a small stream for 50 metres, through another iron kissing gate, following the slightly raised plank walk way over a small wooden bridge, bearing round to the right about 60 metres, crossing over a small run down fence adjacent to the reeds of the marsh, over a little gully, walk out on a point with a white post on it to the end, looking for members. YOU DO NOT NEED TO WALK ON ANY MUD. IF YOU DO, YOU ARE IN THE WRONG PLACE! Someone will wait in Mill Lane 15.30pm to 15.45pm if you need help getting there.

The Beach events at Selsey. West Beach event is off West St. Park near coastguard HQ and tower. Walk down to beach from a small track to the right, just past coastguard buildings.

For East Beach There are toilets and a large car park nearby. PLEASE READ THE CAR PARKING INFORMATION CAREFULLY TO AVOID A FINE! The information on the barrier into the car park is slightly different to the paying machine which at the time of writing this said it was free after 5.00pm and the barrier comes down at 7.00pm. It could change, check it please.

Boat/the beach comp 21st Oct is a very early tide but is an interesting time of year for various species of fish including cod. PLEASE, AS WITH ANY FISHING TAKE GREAT CARE, don’t go out unless you have checked weather conditions. Make sure equipment is not faulty or needs maintenance. If in any doubt, contact the coastguards. You could also ring John or Allan too.

7th Oct Very early in the tide when mullet and bass are running in shallow waters. Only bass caught from a shore allowed then. Bass ban still in force.

31st May New idea fishing from 15:15 for people finishing work early, retired or with flexible hours. Anyone can fish later as well. An interesting tide.
